Today is my 2nd day at Stony Creek brands. It is a thursday, and I will only be logged in from 1-4 today due to some classes that i have in the morning, followed by a group project that I have to meet for later.
I learned a lot of new things today, and began a "daily checklist" that Victor wants me to monitor on a regular basis when I come in for work. So far, this list consists of checking that the "Actual vs. Forecast Daily Reports" are propegating properly, making sure that the email servers referred to as "212" are processing orders, making sure that there is enough free space on the drives for a variety of servers, and eventually checking the customer comments and helpdesk comments for possible issues that need to be resolved.
Some other things that I learned today was how to use a scanner gun! There was an issue with one of the printers in the generation room (this room is used for order processing, and generation of orders) and the printer leaked ink all over a batch of orders. Victor had a new ink cartidge installed, and seemed to be printing fine after that - but the order pages that had been ruined and couldn't be used. We had to "re-print" the packaging slips, which was done with the scanner gun to get the packaging numbers, and then went through the system to be printed out.
One other important thing I learned, was how to create a refund request through a program called Endicia. This program is used by SCB to send out orders and keep a record of how much spending they do via shipping packages.
All in all, it was a good day and I learned a lot for my 2nd day.
